One fine Sunday afternoon we went for a walk along the river bank． Several families were having picnics in the shade of the trees． George looked at them with great interest． "What a good idea!" he said， "I wish we had brought some food with us． I'm hungry!"
After we had been walking for nearly an hour， George saw a man fishing． "I wonder if he's caught something，" George said． "He might be willing to sell us some nice fresh fish．"
"Let's ask him，" I suggested．
We greeted the man and asked him if he had caught some fish． The man looked up at us and smiled． "It's been a very bad day，" the man said． "The fish have eaten nearly all my bait （鱼饵）． I don't like feeding fish．"
"Did you catch anything" George asked eagerly （急切地）． "I caught six fish some time ago，" The man answered． "May I see them" George asked． "I threw them back into the river，" the man said． "They were too small． I want to catch a really big one!"


They went to the river bank to have a picnic． ______
